Watershed Clean Up September 24

National Public Lands Day is Saturday, September 24 2011. Please join with the high school members of our 4-H Stewardship crew that day as they lead groups of community volunteers to clean up the Quilcene-area watershed that suplies Port Townsend's drinking water. This event is in cooperation with Helping Hands for America's Lands and in partnership with the City of Port Townsend, WSU Beach Watchers, U.S. Forest Service and Jefferson County 4-H.

These hardy workers packed out 5 truck loads of garbage out of the Quilcene watershed area that feeds water to the town of Port Townsend. Thanks for all your hard work to help keep our watersheds clean!

4-H Stewardship Program hosts "Let's Clean Up Our Watershed" event - September 25, 2010 - on National Public Lands Day

Focused on the Port Townsend Watershed in Quilcene!

4-H Stewardship Program crew chiefs, Joe Baisch and Freya Fennwood, get their tools warmed up for the upcoming "Let's Clean Up Our Watershed" event in the National Forest in Quilcene. On September 25, 2010 community members from throughout Jefferson County will gather at the Quilcene Ranger Station to participate in this event as part of National Public Lands Day.

This community participation event will be led by 12 Port Townsend area youth, who will receive leadership training prior to the event to prepare them to be squad leaders for the cleanup. We would love to see everyone in Jefferson County join in and support the kids on this effort! If you would like to help out, please write to Sue Hay, 4-H Coordinator, at shay@jefferson.wsu.edu.

Participants start with a
REQUIRED 9 AM safety meeting
U.S. Forest Station in Quilcene
(The USFS station is on the right side heading south out of the town.) We will review safety procedures together before we enter the area where the watershed cleanup will occur. Directions to Quilcene.
