Watershed Clean Up

As part of Earth Day 2011 crew members and chiefs, community volunteers and City of Port Townsend, WSU and U.S.F.S. staff met together to haul refuge out of the Olympic National Forest along forest service road #25 (Rocky Brook road). It was amazing and disgusting to see the garbage people had dumped along the trail and in the ravine- including mattresses and a washing machine! At the end of the day everyone was tired but pleased with their efforts to help restore the natural environment of this beautiful forest.

You can see this team featured in two articles, one as a feature story in the online magazine WSU Today and the other article was a feature on the Washington State 4-H website!

Spring Crew

Twelve Chimacum High School students are gaining valuable work experience and life skills while being immersed in the natural beauty of the Olympic National Forest through participation in the Spring 2011 4-H Stewardship Program in Jefferson County, Washington.

Crew chiefs and U.S.F.S. staff have instructed crew members on the use of forestry tools to clear trails and grounds at Falls View Campground on Hwy 101 between Quilcene and Brinnon.
